Last week team Xpress completed a large heating system upgrade at a stunning property located in Hale Barns. For the past few year’s we have looked after our clients 2 boilers which are located in the garage, but they were fast becoming extremely inefficient and uneconomical to keep repairing.
The old boilers had certainly worked hard over the years, they were 40kw Potterton Profile’s on a gravity system with the traditional style header tank in the loft and immersion heater in the landing. Over the years the property has been extended with extra bedrooms and en-suite’s, which also added to the strain of the system.
We designed a new more efficient system that can deal with 1 bathroom and 4 en-suite’s, along with the hot water demand from the kitchen, utility and cloakroom. We installed 2 new generation Worcester Bosch Style 30kw boilers and a 300 litre unvented cyclinder, to allow for the demand of the household.
The complexity to this heating upgrade was that the old system was gravity and the new system is partly pressurised. To get round this we used plate separation to keep the heating on gravity to save any issues with the additional pressure on the old heating pipes and the hot water is now on pressurised system with the unvented cyclinder, the benefit to installing plate separation is to save any leaks in the future. This heating system is now more efficient, can deal with the demands of a large household and will have the benefit of saving the client money with the latest technology installed with smart controls.
